If your family is like mine, Christmas day is fairly casual. But we still try to look a little special and festive and my guess is that you do too. So I put together an outfit that I’m not only suggesting you wear, but that I’ll wear as well. Unfortunately, Target doesn’t make this dress in non-plus sizes so I opted for this one instead. I’ll wear it with accessories similar to the ones I’m suggesting to you. I thought pairing the dress with brown accessories would be a fun change from the usual black. And of course, adding a splash of red is almost a requirement for this time of year. Since we often spend the whole day with our loved ones we’ll go from helping in the kitchen to eating at the dinner table to cuddling on the sofa to sitting on the floor playing games. All of this requires a versatile outfit that will be comfortable in every scenario. That’s why I chose a casual, patterned dress – patterns help hide the tummy. (After the holidays, you’ll be able to wear it to run errands or dress it up with heels and a colorful scarf for a school function. And because it is short-sleeved, it can be utilized in any season.) If it is cold where you live, put a tight long-sleeved black shirt on underneath the dress. Add a pair of opaque black tights to keep legs warm and you’ll be cute and comfy all day long. I can’t tell if the belt comes with the dress but if it doesn’t, here is a similar one.

Nue Options Ribbed Cardigan (reg. $48, now $24/Amazon)
Rhinestone Star Necklace ($4/Forever 21)
New Light Beret ($15/Amazon): Wear this beanie on the back of your head like this and this. You can keep it on all day or take it off when you get to where you’re going. They’re adorable, simple and stylish.
6 Degrees Women’s Plus-Size Party Dress ($30/Target): Besides the one I have (link in text above), try one of these from Target, Piper Lime (free shipping both ways), New York & Co. (comes with a built-in “control panel” in the front!) and Macy’s. (And yes, you can wear the belt with any of these.)
Combined Bowling Bag ($80/Zara): Purses are one thing you can’t skimp on. Most inexpensive bags look cheap so it is almost always worth it to spend a little extra on them. The good thing is that most will last you for years.
Fergalicious Tara Boot ($90/Endless – free shipping both ways): Fergie knows how to give us some height but here are some other options from Miss Me, Restricted and Naughty Monkey. (For this outfit order all of these in the darkest brown color available.)
Oversized Precious Stone Ring ($24/Arden B.)
Bandolino Cavanna Boot ($150/Endless – free shipping both ways): It’s worth spending a little extra on a good boot. You’ll wear it for years to come and cheap boots often look just that – cheap. Here are some other great styles from Aerosoles and a cool lace-up (just at the ankle) option from Ed Hardy. For a little added height these low wedges would be perfect. (For this outfit, order these in the darkest brown available.)
