Blazers may just be the perfect article of clothing for moms. They never fail to add a touch of sophistication and create a pulled-together look. Plus, they’re incredibly versatile. You can wear one to the office, head straight to a parent-teacher conference, and then, to grandma’s birthday dinner. Pair with dress pants, jeans or the currently-popular full mini-skirt. It will work wonders for your wardrobe. Obviously, black is the most versatile but why not try out a bold color or a pattern for a change? If the one you like is more than you want to spend, it may be worth shelling out a few bucks for something you’ll not only look great it but that you can wear over and over – and over.

Row 1 (left to right):

Faux Leather Jacket ($128/The Limited): Before you run from this jacket because you think the price is too high, consider how often you can wear it. It will definitely last you a few years and even though leather (faux included) is a trend right now, it never really goes out of style.

Grab the Reins Blazer ($60/Modcloth – free shipping and returns!): The equestrian look is not only popular right now, it’s always classic.

Grey Poly Peplum Jacket ($70/Dorothy Perkins – free shipping over $75): Peplums are also a big trend this year and they’re great because they camouflage the tummy and hips. The details on this blazer make it look more expensive than it is.

All You Can Mustard Blazer ($63/Modcloth – free shipping and returns!): This fitted style will show off curves (if you have them) and create curves (if you don’t). The single zippered pocket adds a contemporary touch and makes it stand out from all the other blazers out there. Remember, what makes pieces special are the details.

Row 2:

For Cynthia Boiled Wool Button-Front Blazer ($60, was $98/Loehmann’s): Love the color, love the cut, love the four-button detail. Also comes in black.

Women’s One-Button Blazer ($40/Old Navy – free shipping): If you’re looking for a basic black blazer that isn’t boring and isn’t expensive then this is the one for you. The long length covers the butt and the gut, and the puffy shoulders give it style.

Modern Lit Lecturer Blazer ($45/Modcloth – free shipping and retuns!): A flattering fit and cute pockets make this blazer a stand-out.

Plaid Blazer Jacket ($138/Miss Me): I know – a little pricey but sooo worth it. With some skinny jeans or skinny black pants you’ll looked like you stepped off a runway.

Row 3:

Kamalikulture Single-Breasted Blazer ($78/Zappos – free shipping and returns!): Tired of plain ‘ol black but don’t want something bright? Try this pin-striped blazer by Norma Kamali. The vertical stripes pull the eye down creating a taller, thinner  you.

Aniya by Women Blazer ($80, was $148/Yoox): I love this jacket for its retro feel. I can almost see Lady Mary Crawley wearing it as she walks through the gardens of Downton Abbey. Don’t worry though, it doesn’t look costume-y at all. It looks classy and stylish.

Caslon Corduroy Blazer ($70/Nordstrom – free shipping and retuns!): This blazer comes in a variety of colors so pick your favorite. Layer it with a blouse and a thin sweater like the model in the photo for a really cute look.

Corduroy Equestrian Jacket ($128/White House Black Market): The grosgrain ribbon detail on the  lapel of this blazer is unique and so pretty. It’s corduroy so it won’t be too dressy to wear with jeans.

Row 4:

Zip-Pocket Boucle Blazer: ($40/Charlotte Russe): Don’t be afraid of color in the winter. Picture this with some chocolate brown pants and animal print top (like in the photo) or with jeans and a black and white striped tee, or even just a plain white tee and a long necklace.

H&M Blazer ($50/H&M): This is versatile, flattering style in an unexpected color will make you a standout. The black trim on the pockets and collar add to its appeal.

Lace Through Blazer ($76/Tobi): Lace can go from gorgeous to cheap easily so be careful when you buy it. This jacket falls into the former category.

Olivia Moon Plaid Blazer ($88/Nordstrom – free shipping and retuns!): Plaid is a great way to add a pattern into your outfit without worrying that it’s too much. Really love this color combo.
