Following the trends (in a grown-up and sophisticated way, of course) is one of the best ways to look put-together. One of our favorites this season is the ankle pant. Longer than cropped pants but shorter than regular pants, this versatile style can be worn by any body shape. Even better, they’ll work with a wide variety of shoes from high-heeled or flat sandals to pumps, oxfords or Mary Janes. And because of this, transitioning them from work day to weekend couldn’t be easier.
As you can see in some of the photos above, rolling long pants up to ankle length is just fine. If you already have some skinnies or straight-leg pants in your closet, you can easily get the look without spending a cent.
And lastly, for outfit ideas, take note of what the celebs in the photos are wearing with their ankle pants. Blazers, sweaters and tees all mesh well to create a sleek, chic ensemble you can be proud of.

I do love the style! I can’t find any for under $30. Suggestions?
I researched online a bit and saw some cute ones under $30 at Forever 21, Charlotte Russe and Old Navy. Nordsstrom had some under $40 that I liked too. Good luck!
What about ppl like me? I’m 5’4″ and have short legs & short torso. I’ve always avoided capris bc they shorten me. Are cropped pants going to do the same thing?
Nikki – You are smart to ask this question because it’s important to follow the trends that work with your body type. And yes, capris are definitely a no-no. However, ankle pants are longer than capris. The best thing to do is give them a try. Hard and fast rules don’t apply to everyone so I always suggest taking a trial run. If you’d like to see how they look on you, here are a few thing to do in order to help elongate your legs and counter the fact that the pants are cutting you off at the ankle: First, look for pants that have a vertical pattern and/or are light-colored so that there isn’t a lot of contrast between the color of the pants and your skin tone. The same goes for shoes. Second, be sure to pair them with a heel or wedge. And lastly, the pants should have a slim fit. Wide-leg pants will make you look shorter. That said, I am 5’3″ and I have worn skinny jeans rolled up with flat sandals and it looked ok. Everyone’s body is so different that if you really like a trend my best advice, like I said above, is to try it out. Take a friend with you – an honest friend who will tell you the truth about how you look. Also, take a picture of yourself. I always find that I look completely different in a photo than in a mirror and that the photo is usually more accurate. Hope this helps!
That makes sense. Thanks for the tips! 🙂
