Now that The Mommy Stylist has been around for several years, we’ve decided to start re-posting some of our favorite blogs each Monday so that new readers can benefit from them as well. (And they can serve as reminders for those who have been with us from the beginning.) While some of the items may no longer be available, we wouldn’t post anything that’s out of style, so use them for reference and keep an eye out for something similar when you’re out and about. Enjoy!
After being out of town for ten days I had a lot of catching up to do. So today I had brunch with my cousin and then ran some errands. Many of my clothes are wrinkled from the trip but I was able to pull something together that I thought I’d share with you because it’s mom-friendly – cute, comfortable and inexpensive. And thank goodness for the sock bun. If you haven’t seen my video on how to do it in just minutes, check it out here.
It’s unseasonably warm here in Dallas and having just come from Michigan I know this outfit may not be practical for some of you right now. But, you may be able to winter it up by adding a beige scarf and an animal print shirt with more coverage (like this one). Then add a wool ruana like this over the sweater as your coat. I have one and I LOVE it. (Skip belting it like they have in the photo, it’s too thick to wear with a belt.)
My sweater is so old I can’t remember where I got it but the one in this post is similar and can be ordered in black.
The brown belt is from Target. They have a great selection of belts and very few are cheap looking.
The top, from Alloy, is a perfect tank if you have a tummy because it’s loose on the bottom. They carry them in several colors and if you order three they end up being about $10 each. That’s what I did. They’re not the softest material in the world but they definitely do the trick.
My pants, made from recycled cotton, are from REUSE Jeans and they are by far the softest, most comfortable jeans I’ve ever had the pleasure of wearing. If the $95 price tag is too much try these from Target. They’re out of stock online but I’ve seen them at the store recently. Here’s another pair from JC Penney and a plus-size option.
The boots are from Target but I got them last winter. Here’s a similar pair.
You can’t see my earrings in the photo but they are hoops with a little bird in each and I get compliments on them every time I wear them. They’re by Rachel Roy. Mine are gold but here is a rose gold pair from her website.
For a little change from the usual, I carried a brown Target purse that I got a couple of years ago.
