Now that The Mommy Stylist has been around for several years, we’ve decided to start re-posting some of our favorite blogs each Monday so that new readers can benefit from them as well. (And they can serve as reminders for those who have been with us from the beginning.) While some of the items may no longer be available, we wouldn’t post anything that’s out of style, so use them for reference and keep an eye out for something similar when you’re out and about. Enjoy!

If  your family is like mine, Christmas day is fairly casual. But we still try to look a little special and festive and my guess is that you do too. So I put together an outfit that I’m not only suggesting you wear, but that I’ll wear as well. Unfortunately, Target doesn’t make this dress in non-plus sizes so I opted for this one instead. I’ll wear it with accessories similar to the ones I’m suggesting to you. I thought pairing the dress with brown accessories would be a fun change from the usual black. And of course, adding a splash of red is almost a requirement for this time of year. Since we often spend the whole day with our loved ones we’ll go from helping in the kitchen to eating at the dinner table to cuddling on the sofa to sitting on the floor playing games. All of this requires a versatile outfit that will be comfortable in every scenario. That’s why I chose a casual, patterned dress – patterns help hide the tummy. (After the holidays, you’ll be able to wear it to run errands or dress it up with heels and a colorful scarf for a school function. And because it is short-sleeved, it can be utilized in any season.) If it is cold where you live, put a tight long-sleeved black shirt on underneath the dress. Add a pair of opaque black tights to keep legs warm and you’ll be cute and comfy all day long. I can’t tell if the belt comes with the dress but if it doesn’t, here is a similar one.
